You can’t create in isolation
I’ve recently hit a snag in my writing, finding it more difficult than ever to think of something to write about.
Non-coincidentally, I’ve also spent the past week and a half pent up at home. Avoiding the cold and effectively taking a break from work and life.
My point? You won’t find an abundance of ideas in a vacuum. And I think having the mind-space to come up with them falls under the same condition.
If you’re in the idea business, it certainly helps to be around the people, places and things that stimulate idea generation and transmission.
And if you’re stuck in a rut, the prescription is simple: Get out more. Experience life. Invest in hobbies. Socialize.
You’ll have more than enough material to write about and think about, then.
