What’s a meeting cost?
If pay your employees $25 an hour and host an all-team meeting with ten people…it will cost you $250 per hour to have that meeting.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that a one-hour meeting merely costs $250.
Because a one-hour 10-person meeting also costs you 10 hours of completely fungible time. And, all the things your best minds could have done with that time.
That might be a macro level change—something that could potentially more than double your (or your client’s) profits. Or it could be a new insight or product or feature or strategy that completely changes the game.
You can do a lot in ten hours—if you’re team is smart and efficient and able.
Reason enough to be cautious of meetings—to know when to have them, to schedule them wisely, and to (usually) use messages and memos, instead.
