Watered-down
The coffee in almost every restaurant in my home-town all tastes the same—remote, bland, without much flavor.
One might assume it's watered-down because no one cares. Or because it's cheaper (because it takes more coffee to make a stronger cup).
Businesses water down their products and services all the time. Cutting corners, saving costs.
Ordinarily, this is okay.
Except that no one remarks on watered-down coffee. For the same reason that no one pays extra for boring ice cream, or cheap hotels, or boring, banal products.
Point being, making and marketing an unremarkable product is just fine. Just don’t expect anyone to care about it, comment on it, or make it known to the world.
