UX for the sake of productivity
UX is typically thought of a means to help users achieve their goals as well as to help the business, or the client, achieve theirs.
But I think it’s safe to say that good UX can help both groups not only accomplish more, but do so in a way that saves time and resources in the process.
Consider something as simple as an faq page. Not having to pick up the phone to ask a question probably makes the lives of your service reps easier (and it certainly benefits the reader), giving everyone the freedom to spend their time on more important things. In the same vein, not having to get up and drive to your office can help all of us save time and cut down on gas.
It’s true that our world gets better when we make things more helpful and more useful. But it’s also true that completing many tasks, particularly trivial ones, sooner rather than later can benefit all of us as well.
