I'm sure the same could be said for dozens of candies we grew up with—the same confections we'll likely treat our kids to this Halloween.
Yes, sweets aren’t good for you. And no, not even if you make them from scratch. Unless you delight in DIY and relish in recreating the impossible, there’s little health benefit in making homemade versions. Sugar’s still sugar, and the indulgence is still there.
But maybe that’s the point—it’s okay for treats to be treats. Sometimes, the joy of savoring something (anything) outweighs the need for it to be healthy, or productive.
After all, nothing’s quite like the gooey goodness of a store-bought gummy or the flavor of your favorite chocolate bar. So I say eat your fill—at least on Halloween.
