Two types of better
We spend an inordinate amount of time everyday working to get things to go the way we want them to.
To always see the positive. To always have something fun on the agenda. To always be becoming the person we want ourselves to be. To always be moving up in the games of life. To always be working, striving, for better.
That’s a lot to juggle, to keep in check, to obsess and worry over. It can be a lot of pressure.
Hence the inevitable disappointment when things don’t go our way.
Of course, you could make some space in your routine to practice acceptance. To sit with the thoughts and feelings of disappointment, disillusionment and doubt.
Let them come.
For a minute even, let your mind do what it wants. Feel what you want to feel. Don’t try to change anything.
There. That’s better.
Not better in the sense that your circumstances are changing. Better in the sense that you’re free of the expectation to change things for the better.
