Tunnel vision (and how to shake it)
Something I’ve found is that if you sit around (or stare at a screen) for too long, you’ll often experience a certain listlessness that can be hard to detect but easy to slip into.
Prolong it any longer and it can be debilitating. You’re too apathetic to do anything else and yet anything else is exactly what you need.
Indeed, all it takes is a change of place or pace. 30 minutes (or more) of voluntary free time.
Maybe it’s a short drive or a hike or a stroll through your favorite store. Or much needed nap. Maybe it’s going somewhere, but nowhere in particular. Maybe it’s a chat with a friend, a bout of exercise, or play—when was the last time you did something genuinely fun?
The important part is to get away—regularly. To make space to get out, to recharge, to come back with a fresh perspective.
Presense, of course, is a verb. A state of mind you must consistently cultivate. Adequate sleep, eating right, mindfulness, breaks especially…these are the prerequisites to working optimally.
Constant habits. Not once a full moon rarities.
