Trying vs doing
Trying to take an object out of someone’s hand isn’t the same as taking it.
In the same way that approaching a stranger isn’t the same as raising your hand.
One is an attempt at action, the other is a deliberate and forceful exertion of influence.
It’s easy to hide behind intentions, because you can convince yourself that you’re making an effort, even if it’s slapdash or ineffectual.
It takes guts to admit that the difference between attempting and having done is a small one. A chasm crossed by sheer will and determination, and the willingness to confront the uncomfortable reality that good intentions alone don’t yield results.
