Transcending a broken system
The world is unfair. There’s no such thing as a true meritocracy.
You didn’t get in, get picked or win the lottery of choice that would have “changed everything.”
You’re a decade or so behind, and no one cares.
What choice do you really have?
Give up. Resign yourself to not knowing what you need to compete. Spend it all feeling sorry for yourself.
Or spend all that (potential) energy committed to a solution.
Learning scarce skills.
Seeking help.
Leveraging your strengths.
Enrolling in something new.
Being proactive (about how and where you’re investing your energy, time and resources).
Creating a body of work.
It’s not easy. But certainly a far better pursuit than getting caught up in the disillusionment of stagnation and the inexorable inequity of life.
