Thinking in metas
It’s possible that you think your job is to merely move digits, push pixels, sell gizmos, or pass on knowledge.
And, from a certain point of view, you might be right.
Taken another step forward, however—one or two or three tiers down—and you might come upon the reason you’re doing so.
That reason may be to make someone more productive. To create surplus or sustain a process. Or to make some part of the world (and certain people in it) healthier, wealthier, or wise.
Whatever the case, being clear about the meta(s) you're achieving is a great way to evaluate the value (or lack of value) of what you do each day.
And—if it’s not resonating with your worldview, your ambitions, or the world you’d like to see—to help you find the awareness you need to go out and find a better one.
