The process trumps progress
If you want to learn to write better (or vlog better), you make a commitment to doing it every day. Likes, retweets and shares are secondary motivators (which can potentially provoke you to quit).
And if you want to get in shape (for good), you should break a sweat everyday, instead of focusing on a hitting (or maintaining) a number on a scale.
Sure, those metrics might help, but if you want this work long term, it’s far better to concentrate on consistently meeting an intrinsic goal (something you can control).
Learning to be happy in your pursuit is significantly easier when you’re not consistently measuring yourself against an arbitrary metric.
