The importance of visibility
You can’t identity a problem if it’s not visible.
Which means that, visibility (or rather increasing it) should be the #1 priority of any astute knowledge worker.
Because of course, if you can’t find the email that you need to correspond with your client, your relationship with them is as good as gone.
If you can’t find the file or the tab you’re looking for, they might as well not exist.
And if you don’t notice the bottleneck or the logjam or the glitch in the process, how can you possibly know that they need to be fixed?
Looking for solutions is only one side of improving your processes. The other (as you may have guessed) is seeing your problems.
Of course, if you can’t readily spot them, you’ll never know to solve them until it’s too late.
