The game of life
Chess is a finite game. It has rules and clear boundaries. If your opponent wins, you lose.
Writing a book or flying a kite or, arguably, playing chess against yourself, is an infinite game. You can't win, but you also can't lose.
Much of how we experience the world is shaped by the posture we bring to it. If your constantly comparing yourself against the latest benchmark, metric, or status symbol (in a world of scarcity) it's hard to see how you’ll ever be satisfied with where you are.
Which begs the question: if playing a finite game is causing you more stress than its worth, why not play a different game instead?
