The blame game
If one of your subordinates makes a mistake at work, what do you do?
Do you fix the problem straightaway (while updating your process to ensure it doesn’t happen again)?
Or do you spend an hour trying to find out who did it, why, and then assigning responsibility for their fault? And only after fixing the problem.
Massaging guilt takes time. Quite a lot of you compound it per incident, which is why playing the blame game isn't only immature, it's expensive.
Better to simply fix the problem and assume the best of your people than waste time focused on making them own up to something they may not even be entirely accountable for.
