The benefits of selling yourself short
I can’t think of any.
Certainly there’s a comfort in settling with the way things are.
But enlightening? Empowering? Engaging? Not so much.
If your intention is to make your life better, to grow, to stretch yourself, then starting from the premise of “I can’t do that…” is a really inefficient way to start.
Merely a great way to make you feel miserable.
If you’re not opposing rejection (of any form), if you’re not doing something you thought you never could, if you’re not challenging the thoughts that keep you stuck, well, you’re not really expanding the narrative are you?
As it happens, proving to ourselves we’re capable of more starts with challenging the assumptions that reinforce the belief that we’re capable of anything less.
