Systems thinking and preparedness
Everything we do (and don’t do) has ripples.
Some come back to haunt us. Others make us all the better for it.
Creating a system that creates more problems (down the line) than solutions is bound to stir up conflict. Just like doing something you’ll later regret.
The alternative, of course, is to plan ahead.
To do your research. To anticipate the effects. To avoid the consequences of poor action by way of elimination or mitigation. To make things better for everyone involved—your stakeholders, your people, posterity too.
Things tend to suck when we don’t prepare. Thinking about the potential repercussions is how we avoid them.
