Sufficiency and overkill
For many people in many arenas, not accepting anything but more is the key to their success.
But in project world, many of those who incessantly ask for more content, more features, or more improvements often end up with less.
That’s because by rewarding more effort and more work, they often end up creating things that are excessive and a challenge to use.
Instead of doing the work of making a thing that does what it’s designed to do, we end up creating turgid products that conflict with our ambitions.
It’s not easy to accept that this is the best we can do and move on. To step back and focus on other ways to realize our goals instead.
But, for many projects, it is the most promising path to an uncomplicated and profitable future.
