Proximity isn't a cure for enrollment
Just because you’re kid is in math class doesn’t mean he’s learning math.
And if you go take him to a museum, don’t assume he’s just as fascinated with old war planes or fossils or the neanderthal exhibit as you are.
He might be really close to the space shuttle, but that doesn’t mean he’s thinking about going to Mars.
You have to be the guide. The person who catalyzes his curiosity and wonder and interest. Someone who brings engagement and excitement into the interaction that is learning.
That’s your job as a teacher or parent.
A trip to the zoo is nothing compared to spending a day with a zoologist.
