Packing and accurate records
The first rule of packing is to pack light. Because packing more than you need can be a burden.
A financial one, sure, because a carry on bag cost less than a checked one. But also a mental and quasi-emotional one as well.
More stuff means means more to keep track of. More of a risk you'll lose something or forget it.
The same principle holds true for many other things, well beyond the confines of luggage. Anything you can or need to inventory: papers, property, passwords, records, data, merchandise.
More cruft means more to manage.
