Only human
I think a significant part of what it means to cultivate wisdom is to accept that, as smart and sophisticated as we think we are, we all have our shortcomings.
That maybe, we’re not as strong-willed as we hope.
That our lizard brain, what makes us more animal than cyborg—that’s been around far longer than our ability to think and act in a consistently logical or efficient basis.
And so, it’s not a matter of if you will fall short (in your hopes, dreams or aspirations). It’s what to do when you inevitably slip up.
You can quickly undermine your progress by blaming yourself and magnifying the event.
Or you can merely read a book or take a nap. Embrace your lapses as an inevitable actuality of life and continue.
You’re only human, after all. No sense beating yourself up over it.
