Not enough questions
Something you typically notice when you hire a bunch of writers (or designers) is that some tend to ask more questions than others.
They ask about the scope of the project. What’s it for. Who’s using it. And what goals it’s trying to achieve.
In short, their curious.
On the flip side, there are plenty of ‘professionals’ who act like they understand everything. Who have no questions. As if asking anything is a fault.
Unsurprisingly, these are same folks who often blame the client when they inevitably get it wrong. When they don’t follow instructions, or, at very least, the style guide, and who confess to ‘not knowing’ when you inquire as to why.
I don’t have a problem with answering questions. I have a problem with working with someone who’s incapable of asking them when they should.
Seems to me a much more useful way to go.
