Not as bad as it appears
…not as good as one would hope.
Pessimists often get it wrong by underestimating how quickly people adapt.
And optimists? They get it wrong by ignoring that facets of things that could potentially lead to ruin.
It often doesn’t pay to be pessimist. Nor does it help to be a tried and true optimist.
What helps is having the audacity to believe that a better version of the future you predict will exist. While hedging your bets for inevitable hardships and staying cognizant of your blindspots.
Better’s possible. But not without error.
