Moratorium at Mt. Rushmore
As of today, people with electric vehicles have to pay an additional fee (currently $88.20) to offset the cost they would normally pay in taxes with a gas-guzzler.
Meanwhile, this bozo is spending millions of dollars in taxpayer funds for pyrotechnics (despite himself being a multi-billionaire).
Here’s a conspiracy theory up for grabs: Perhaps the proximity of these two events is not mere coincidence.
That would certainly be ironic. In the same dubious and roundabout way that corrupt politicians are notorious for.
Of course, these events are linked (however indirectly). $88 of my money is going into the same account as the $14 million or so being withdrawn from it.
This post was originally going to be about how we can’t make the world greener, better, or more hospitable if we penalize the people who care enough to make a difference. But I realize now the joke’s on us.
We will never make our world greener, better, or more hospitable unless we take a collective and proactive stand against the injustice, irrationality, and sheer ignorance that consumes this country.
Driving an EV, being informed, voting with our dollars and cents—these are great choices to make. But all total, they just won’t cut it.
