Jumping to conclusions
There’s a very high correlation between how set you are in your beliefs, biases or worldview and how quick you are to jump to assumptions based on them.
The relationship is so high, in fact, that they might as well be one and the same, because they are.
It’s quite possible that the associations you use to navigate your world were made so fast-under the gun-that you have no recollection of ever actually contemplating them at all.
Which means that, for the most part, you may be walking around all day everyday jumping to assumptions that are not only wrong, but that corrupt your view of how the world actually exists.
Fortunately for you, the opposite is also true. The longer it takes for you to decide--to mull things over, to examine your dispositions, to consider multiple points of view—generally the more accurate you’ll be.
