How many blankets do you need?
One, surely.
And yet, we (you, me, my parents, your parents, soon to be parents and folks who have parents) have boxes full of them. Boxes in our basement, under our bed, in the attic and in our dresser. Boxes filled with blankets (and lots of other things) we don’t use and likely never will.
Here’s a simple rule. If you don’t like your one blanket, or you simply want a new one, toss the old one before you get a new one.
If you’re planning on getting the family 4-pack, remove all your blankets. Give them to people or organizations you might need them more than you do you. Homeless shelters and donation centers are a great place to start.
Obviously, this applies not just to blankets but to a great many things we often hide in boxes, closets, garrets and storage units.
When you only need one (as we often do) go back to zero rather than accumulate several.
