Happenstance theory
Happenstance theory refers to the idea that some of the biggest things that can impact your life can come from unpredictable factors and chance encounters.
It also explains, in part, why networking works.
Because a) stakeholders don’t like reaching out to strangers, and b) choosing a friend of a friend is always more preferable than trusting an outsider.
And so the people you meet and the people you know can change your world from the outside in—introducing you to people and ideas and opportunities that you would never have encountered otherwise.
Reason enough to be proactive, optimistic, and open—especially to unplanned events. And, to make a friend, or at least attempt to, out of everyone.
