Half way around the world from you
…is likely someone who can do what you’re good at, better than you can.
Give that person the leverage the internet now enables, and you might find yourself competiting for the same job.
The lesson here isn’t that outsourcing is a bad thing. (It’s actually a great thing.)
The lesson is that if you don’t want to be replaceable, you have to find a way not to be. To do a thing (or a host things) unlike anyone else.
Because as it turns out, you don’t have to be the best in world to hold a job or to make an impact. You just have to be irreplaceable to the small corner of the world that needs you.
