Ghost Busters
Lots of recruiters have taken to ‘ghosting’ candidates as of late. As in, not disconfirming their standing for an open position, after a first or even second round of interviews—leaving them in a perpetual state of anxiousness.
In their defense, a common complaint from many recruiters is that this behavior is a natural consequence of applicants ghosting them.
The difference, I think, is that when applicants do it, they don’t get paid (while recruiters and hiring managers do).
Alas. If your on the clock—if you call yourself a professional—it seems to me the least you could do is act like one.

Update: For anyone interested, I put together a free email template for getting back to rejected candidates, which you can copy & paste. It's based on a similar note I received from a recruiter earlier today which I appreciated--it feels great to be treated like a person.
