Does having a dog make you more friends?

Or does having a dog make you more sociable?

It’s true that dog-lover’s tend to congregate. And, whether you’re in a city, a suburb, or a small town, there’s usually a communal space for taking your dog nearby.

But I’m not so sure having a dog makes it more likely you’ll make new friends.

It’s more likely that being around people who share a common interest makes you friendlier or more conversational.

Of course, if that’s the case, it probably holds true for any crutch we use (inebriates or otherwise) in our silly attempts at making friends.
