Defining problems and other synonymous words
An error is being incorrect in judgement. The inevitable by-product of our own cultural or self-taught bias. Of which we’re mostly unaware of anyway.
A mistake (and a failure) is choosing the wrong method for achieving your objective. It’s something you can learn from and avoid next time by trying a different approach.
A slip is an unintentional misstep in carrying out an intended method. You took the wrong key (or forgot it). You said something other than what you meant to. Or you misheard your spouse.
A problem has a solution. Otherwise, it’s not a problem, it’s a fact of life. Merely a “bad” situation you’re forced to work around.
And an unsolvable problem is, as Einstein would say, a “poorly stated problem” that needs to be seen through a different lens. After all, you can’t solve a significant problem at “the same level of thinking” that created it.
