Cryptocurrency and The Game of Thrones
Lots of friends have encouraged me to watch Game of Thrones, and my response is always the same.
I know it’s a glorious, fantastic, and amazing show. I’ve read the reviews.
It’s also 60 hours(!) long. And I can think of about a dozen other ways I’d rather spend the time.
Recently, I’ve been getting the same sort of ‘encouragement’ from friends who advocate learning about (and investing in) cryptocurrency.
It’s not that I don’t find it interesting, or potentially lucrative. But the opportunity cost of learning all the ins and outs of the trade, paired with reading about the countless options, and assessing—almost daily—what’s up and what’s down, is so large it doesn’t seem worth the trouble.
Sure. Someone is going to come out the other end a millionaire. But that doesn’t make it worth obsessing over, let alone spending any amount of your non-refundable time pursuing.
