Creativity is always open-ended
It’s easy to convince yourself that your work isn’t what they're looking for. Not how they—the critics, the gatekeepers, the admission reps, intended it.
That the way you put it, your angle, your perspective, your presentation, isn’t what they had in mind.
That somehow, because you’re somehow looking at it wrong, you’re going fail from the start.
Of course, saying an open-ended solution "isn't how we intended it,” is an oxymoron.
Open-endedness is inherently pliable, malleable, and, well, open...open to the possibility of challenging your perceived notions of what’s acceptable or what’s possible.
Giving you the leverage to embrace your intuition, your taste or your unique point of view.
You don’t stumble upon creative solutions by doing things the "right way." You do it by embracing all the other ways, and figuring out what works best for you.
