Avoiding crowds
It’s no surprise that the majority of available parking spaces are furthest away from the entrance.
So why do so many people spend their time trying to find an empty spot in a crowded space?
If you go straight to the 7th floor and park by an elevator, you actually save more time than if you try to find a spot on the first.
The same can said for the job or industry you might be trying to get into. If you're investing all your effort in finding a gap in a long line of wannabes, waiting to get picked, it's going to take far longer than if you simply pick yourself.
Furthermore, if you’re doing nothing to stand out, if your adopting the same strategy as everyone else, don't be surprised if you experience more inertia. There are more than enough people in the same line as you are.
The lesson is simple: if you find yourself in a crowded space, bypass the searching and the waiting and go somewhere less congested.
There's no shame in choosing a different route. If eccentricity teaches us anything, it's that avoiding crowds is often more rewarding, not less.
