Assuming high
When you enter a novel situation, do you assume everything will work out?
Do you put a ‘positive spin’ on ambiguous feedback, or have a bias for optimism?
All things considered, you have just as much as shot at getting the result you want by assuming high rather than low. By defaulting to a narrative of success—by acting ‘as if’ you’ll (obviously) get what are hoping for.
Actually, if you think about it, it might even help you improve those odds.
