Assorted tips for dieting
I’m always dieting, but more often as of late, and recently compiled the following list of tips to help me stick to it. I thought I'd share.
Have your next meal top of mind. This can help you avoid 'cheating' 92% of the time.
Stay hydrated. (People often confuse hunger for thirst.)
Similarly, never leave the house without a full water-bottle.
If you're traveling:
1. Plan ahead
2. Bring snacks
3. Know where you can go to get a diet-friendly meal/snack
Read the label. Better than that, make it habit to read the label before you decide to consume or purchase anything. (As far as I know this applies to every diet.)
Care about the source. Ask about the source. Pay extra for the source.
If you have one, go to the farmers market.
If you're getting carry-out, know what you can eat in advance. If you're going out, know what you can eat in advance. If your boss orders pizza for the office and your not eating bread, eat the toppings.
Pack a lunch. Usually. (This might help.)
Ask for substitutions. (And tip generously for it.)
Eat the same meals regularly. For me, that's eggs and avocados for breakfast, every day. For you, that might be a hemp smoothie with cashew milk and a banana, or a greens smoothie (yuck!)
Stock your fridge and pantry with diet-friendly food. Trash unhealthy food. If you've got roommates or family who aren't eating the same foods you are, choose a drawer or shelf to store foods just for you.
If you're considering a snack, consider broth: veggie broth, chicken broth, bone broth, etc.
To add flavor, spice up your foods. (Bored with the same flavors? Change it up.)
