Ambiguity compounds exponentially
…if not addressed linearly.
That, in just one sentence, is the key to making learning stick indefinitely.
Of course, it’s far easier to say than to do.
Because learning to mastery—addressing ambiguity before moving on to the next lesson—is inherently boring. It’s far harder to stick with what you’re stuck on than to simply move on to the next thing.
It’s also lengthy. Because learning for retention takes far more time than a traditional program would lead you to believe. With means it requires more tenacity than most of us are comfortable expending.
Perhaps that's why mastery, proficiency, the stuff of legend--is reserved for a select few. Not because the collective we can't aspire to it, but because most of us actually don't want to.
