AI skills
I recently read how a program in Ireland is equipping people in rural areas with essential “AI skills.”
To say nothing of the program itself, I'm not sure "skills" is the right word. Perhaps "literacy" might be more fitting?
Understanding how it works is certainly worth the investment. As many folks aren’t using AI because they’re afraid of what it might do or become, when it’s more than perfectly benign.
And knowing the tools—both the myriad of applications available and how to leverage them to enhance everyday tasks—can significantly empower people from all walks of life.
From automating mundane chores to perfecting a blog like this one, familiarity can open doors not previously possible.
But skills? No, we don’t need skills. We need people who are engaged and enrolled on the journey of exploration.
Who are curious enough to try a new tool, even when they're not "good" at it yet, to figure out how they can use it to solve their problem.
