AC Regenerators and The Game of Thrones
AC regenerators are…well, I don’t know what they are…but I know they’re used by audiophiles to make their musical experience better by no small ratio.
And we all know The Game of Thrones (or a truly binge-worthy show that’s similar). A 70-hour investment, certainly not for the faint of heart.
By all accounts, I know that acquiring an AC regenerator (as well as taking the time to learn how one works), or watching The Game of Thrones in it’s entirety, will add a richness to my life that I’ve hitherto unexperienced. Much the same way that traveling to just about anywhere will enlarge my worldview, or how trying all of Jeni’s famous ice creams could evolve my sense of taste.
My point is, no matter how many ads I see that tell me to buy fancy audio equipment, or how many friends encourage me to binge-watch fantasy drama, I'm liking not going to. Not because I'm immune to the benefits of these things, but because the time investment of consuming them just isn't worth the cost.
In other words, it's not personal. It's just not for me.
You too might be in the business of selling the right thing to the wrong audience. And guess what? The lesson isn't to improve your pitch or even your UX. It might be to simply find and engage with an audience willing and eager to interact with you from the start.
