A little dose of empathy
One of the easiest ways to increase the percentage of people who sign up for your newsletter is to make the CTA–your “call to action”–resonate with them.
So, “Sign up for my newsletter” becomes “Get the best marketing tips to boost your business–delivered weekly” or “Get a weekly roundup of the hottest topics in tech.”
Of course, it’s not just CTAs that could use the empathy treatment, but almost anything we could hope to make or promote or sell.
Asking “what can it do for them?,” and designing from that angle, is loads more effective than the selfish alternative. And guess what? It creates a more compelling reason to do the thing you want them to from the start.
